Professor Christine Bigby coordinates postgraduate programs and leads a disability research group in the School of Social Work and Social Policy at Latrobe University. She has a long history of researching intellectual disability policy, program and practice issues. She is Chair of the IASSID Special Interest Group on Ageing, Editor of Australian Social Work, and has published widely in the peer reviewed literature. She is the lead chief investigator with Paul Ramcharan and Patsie Frawley on an ARC Linkage grant that is working with the Reinforce History group to investigate the contribution of self advocacy to social inclusion.

David Corner comes from Wellington, New Zealand. He has an intellectual disability and has been involved in the area of self advocacy since the mid-nineties. David has been employed by IHC New Zealand for over fourteen years and currently works with the National Self Advocacy team as an advisor. David also works on the international stage and since 2008 he has been a Council member for Inclusion International, representing the Asia Pacific region. David grew up with his parents and sisters and graduated from Polytechnic with a Certificate in Teaching People with Disabilities.

Eric Emerson is Co-Director of the English Public Health Observatory on intellectual disabilities, Professor of Disability & Health Research at Lancaster University (UK) and Visiting Professor at the University of Sydney. Currently responsible for liaison between IASSID and WHO, he has been a member of several advisory groups to government and non-government organizations. He has written extensively on issues related to the health and social inequalities faced by disabled children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

John Della Bosca is the National Campaign Director for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
John joined the Australian Labor Party in 1973 and held numerous executive roles including, 15 years on Labor’s National Executive and 11 years as NSW General Secretary. During 11 years in The Legislative Council as Deputy Leader and Leader of the Government, John held all major human services and statutory insurance portfolios, as well as the Finance and Commerce ministries. John initiated a number of important reforms including the Stronger Together initiative in Disability Services.

Associate Professor Keith McVilly is a Principal Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at Deakin University, Melbourne. Keith has worked as a direct support worker, clinical psychologist, service manager, and as a researcher. He has worked in Australia, the UK, and the USA with people with developmental, acquired and degenerative disability, together with family members and support staff. He is the founding convenor of the Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) interest group on ‘People with Intellectual and Other Developmental Disabilities’, and Co-Vice President (Asia Pacific) of the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disability (IASSID).

Dr Phil Flint has worked with people with a disability for nearly 20 years in South Australia, the Northern Territory, and Canada. He recently completed a doctoral thesis on the mental health of Aboriginal adults with intellectual disability throughout South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Phil is currently based in Broome, Western Australia as the Kimberleys Operations Manager for Life Without Barriers.
